Forest certification scheme revises core documents
The documents deal with PEFC’s global criteria for sustainable forest management and its standard setting procedures at national level.
PEFC International is calling on stakeholders to nominate candidates for a working group dedicated to the revision, to be finalised in the autumn of 2010.
“These documents define not only the environmental, social and economic criteria that have to be met by forest management practices in order to be sustainable, but also the procedures for the development of national forest certification schemes,” said PEFC secretary-general Ben Gunneberg.
A revised PEFC chain of custody standard is due for submission and approval in November.
