Beech plywood prices declined on European sales markets
Prices
for deliveries to industrial buyers were generally high at present
given the longer duration of these contracts. Manufacturers registered
mounting pressure on prices for deliveries to retailers during the
first quarter after the supply of beech plywood had improved
significantly at the start of the year. A few producers had also raised
prices for multiplex board and custom grades. However, these mark-ups
were lower than last year's and met with much stronger opposition from
buyers.
