UK wood production 2002
In 2002, removals of UK roundwood totalled 7.6 million cubic metres underbark (2001: 7,23 mio. cbm). A total of 2.5 million cubic metres of sawnwood was produced in the UK (2001: 2,5 mio. cbm). 2001 existed 276 sawmills in UK with 15 bigger than 50.000 cbm production capacity. A total of 8.8 million tonnes of pulp and paper, with an estimated value of 3,778 million was imported to the UK in 2002. Pulp and paper also accounted for the majority of exports, generating a total of 1,021 million.
