Czech Republic Receives 1.9 Mln Euro Annually from EU for Forest Improvement
The country uses the EU subsidies under the Phare programme mainly for co-financing of forest liming and manuring. The EU subsidies cover 33.3 pct of the expenses for these activities and the Agriculture Ministry covers the remainder. The state forest management company Lesy Ceske Republicky received 68 mln crowns ($2.3 mln/2.1 mln euro) from the EU for liming for 2000, a total of 59 mln crowns ($2.0 mln/1.9 mln euro) for 2001 and 53 mln crowns ($1.8 mln/1.7 mln euro) for 2002. EU allocated 7.2 mln crowns ($244,700/226,900 euro) to the country for manuring for 2000, 5.8 mln crowns ($197,100/182,700 euro) for 2001 and 11.2 mln crowns ($380,700/352,900 euro) for 2002
The Czech Republic receives some 60 mln Czech crowns ($2.0 mln/1.9 mln euro) annually from the European Union for improvement of the country's wooded areas, deputy Agriculture Minister, Jaromir Vasicek, said on February 6, 2003.
