In 2004 a joint Russian-Chinese woodworking enterprise will start working in Irkutsk region
The talks are not easy, as it is more beneficial for the Chenese part to import Russian round timber.In 2002 volumes of removal of round timber from the region to China totaled more than 14 mln cu m, i.e. twice as much as in 2001. At the same time, the price for Irkutsk timber fell drastically to USD 40 per cu m. "It is necessary to take steps to slow down volume of exported round timber to China", he said.
In 2004 a joint Russian-Chinese woodworking enterprise will start working in Irkutsk region. On Jan. 14, 2003 the deputy head of Irkutsk region administration A. Rudik informed. Talks of several Russian companies with the Chinese on construction of the plant are to be finished in June 2003.
