Machinery and timber-processing products orders in Germany increased 28% within 6 months in 2004
According to the data published by the German Union of machinery and equipment manufacturers, the orders for timber-processing machines and equipment in the first 6 months in 2004 exceeded by 28% the similar index reached during the prior period in 2003, the union's spokesperson announced.
The growth is both due to the increase in orders on the interior market (24% compared with the first 6 months in 2003) and to the increase in orders from abroad (29%) which reinforced the positive dynamics of the sector development. The amount of timber-processing machines and equipment increased 68% in 2003 providing a growth of export earnings by 8% to EUR 1.9 billion.
The largest consumers of German machinery and equipment throughout the last 10 years are: the USA (EUR 234 million during the first 6 months in 2004), China (EUR 234 million), Russia (EUR 135 million). German Union of machinery and equipment manufacturers
