Ukrainian Lvivlis Asking Lviv Regional Administration To Create Forest Utilizers Associations In Regional Districts
Lvivlis director general Anatolii Deineka announced this at a
press conference.
According to him, booking of regional orders will resolve the
problem of timber plundering.
Lvivlis is going to conclude bilateral agreements on timber
supply with these associations.
As Ukrainian News earlier reported, Lvivlis posted net profits
of UAH 9.5 million in 2002.
That year it increased timber output by 9% or 27,800 cubic
meters up on 2001, to 337,700 cubic meters.
Lvivlis manages 478,000 hectares of forests and specializes in
forest growing and sale.
There are 30 million hectares under forests in Ukraine.
New forest grows up every 50 years.
However, over last years afforestation pace had been faster
than deforestation.
The state forest management association Lvivlis (Lviv) is asking the Lviv
Regional Administration to create forest utilizers associations in all 20
districts of the Lviv region for booking regional timber orders.
