Ukraine: Pulp and paper industry announces results for 11 months
During January–November 2004, Ukrainian enterprises of the pulp and paper industry churned out 640.6 thousand tons of paper and cardboard, which constituted an upturn of 13.7% (77 thousand tons) compared with the same period a year ago. Newspaper output totaled 31.7 thousand tons (+10%) including 31 thousand tons of Zhidachev Pulp and Paper Mill and 700 tons of Kroneks Ukraine.
Deliveries in the sector of printing and writing papers grew 31% as a result of boosting capacities by Kroneks Ukraine (998 tons versus 120 tons during the same period 2003) and Poninky Cardboard and Paper Mill.
During the eight months since production restart Poninky Mill manufactured 3.9 thousand tons of printing and writing papers. The sector leader, Dnepropetrovsk Paper Mill reports -4.5% production drop for 11 months (12.5 thousand tons). Total output of printing and writing papers constituted 17.5 thousand tons.
The boxboard sector shows stable results — 99.8 thousand tons (5.7 thousand tons more than during 11 months 2003). Kiev Cardboard and Paper Mill manufactured 84.2 thousand tons of cardboard (+6.1%), Zhidachev Pulp and Paper Mill — 13.1 thousand tons (+1.6%).
The main containerboard producer (including paper for corrugated) remains Rubezhansk Cardboard and Packaging Mill with 127.6 thousand tons of products (+12.3% compared with the period a year ago). Total cardboard output increased 55.4 thousand tons to 463.4 thousand tons.
